Jan. 25, 2022, The Durango Herald reported that Durango School District 9-R is using YouScience for its eighth grade students. The goal is to help them “take ownership of their high school course selection and pursue what subjects inspire them,” says Dylan Connell, district executive director of curriculum, instruction and assessment. The district plans to expand the program to grades 9 through 12 soon.
The district’s superintendent, Karen Cheser, added how YouScience guides students towards relevant 21st-century careers and “can help students realize they might be better in certain subject areas than they realized.”
She also notes how YouScience helps “girls and minority groups that are generally underrepresented discover career fields they might not have considered before.”
